UND's Belmore learns each week while Bowenkamp deals with injury
Each week, sophomore quarterback Chris Belmore learns a little more about leading the UND offense. Each week, UND senior quarterback John Bowenkamp becomes a little more frustrated, knowing his final season is slipping away as a muscle tear that affects his throwing keeps him sidelined.

Charlie Paukert knows it can be more difficult to earn a second title than it is to win a first. Paukert won his first North Dakota state singles tennis title in 2003. The person he defeated in the final, Grand Forks Red River's Zac Lunak, was attempting to win a second championship.
PRO BASEBALL: Yankees sweep Twins in doubleheader
With a doubleheader sweep of the Minnesota Twins, the New York Yankees moved to the verge of clinching their seventh straight AL East title. Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez rallied the Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the AL Central champions in the opener, a possible playoff opener preview matching New York's Mike Mussina and Minnesota's Johan Santana.

Jim Mora Sr. was a nervous wreck. This was 2 1/2 weeks ago at Candlestick Park in San Francisco and he was in the stands watching Jim Jr.'s NFL head-coaching debut with the Atlanta Falcons.

Yankees' dominance deceptive yet telling
NEW YORK — Let's play five. The Twins might have moved two steps back toward a return to Yankee Stadium next week for the first round of the playoffs when they got swept by the New York Yankees in a rain-caused doubleheader Wednesday, losing 5-3 and 5-4.
